What Is Body Contouring?
There are a number of ways you can go about achieving your desired physical appearance. Some of these methods require surgical procedures. Body contouring is an alternative to invasive surgery. While cosmetic procedures are easier, smaller, and safer than ever, many of these surgeries still require you to receive some sort of anesthesia (either locally or you’ll be put under), it still is more invasive than you’d like. And in other instances, you may not need the extreme of surgery to achieve your desired goals. Maybe you’re just a few pounds away from what you’d like. In these cases, surgery isn’t right for you. Body contouring though, may be the answer. Body contouring is a non-invasive process to help you remove minor imperfections that surgery would not necessarily be the best option.
CoolSculpting
Here is one of the fastest-growing and most popular methods for contouring your body. With CoolSculpting, a small device is placed on a target area. It’s not all too different from an ultrasound experience (there will be different sensations, but in terms of a small wand-like device placed on your body and slowly moved about).
With CoolSculpting, fat cells in the target area will be frozen. By freezing the fat cells, some of these cells will not survive the thaw and simply die out. The body will then begin to process the dead fat cells. Usually, about a quarter of the fat cells in the target area will die (some are buffered out and protected by other fat cells, essentially using the dying fat cells as a protective blanket). You will see results in anywhere from one to three months with CoolSculpting, so it is an excellent way to help your body rid areas of stubborn fat.
CoolTone
While the name is similar (CoolTone and CoolSculpting were created by the same manufacturer), the results are far different. With the other forms of body contouring, the target area is stubborn fat. However, with CoolTone, the target area is the muscle cells.
There are some areas of your body that are hard to train. Or, maybe, over time, your body has lost some of its tightness, and now you have loose arms or some sag here and there. With CoolTone, a small electronic pulse is rapidly sent into the target muscles. This forces the muscles to contract over and over. Essentially this gives the muscle tissue an extreme workout in just a short period of time.
After you may even feel like you just put in some incredible time at the gym. Once you’ve finished with this process, it will take several weeks to experience the full results. It does take the body some time to repair the damaged muscle tissue, but once done, you will have the look of a tight, toned muscle in the area you targeted.

Things To Keep In Mind
With CoolSculpting (and other ways of removing fat cells from your body), it is not a “weight loss” method, but instead, a way to help reduce fat in certain areas of your body. Everybody stores calories differently. With the removal of these fat cells, unless you alter your diet or increase your amount of exercise, the excess calories will be stored in a different area of the body. Basically, the fat you removed from the target area of the body will move to another area. While it likely won’t return to the targeted area, it will just shift to a different spot.
With CoolTone, you will not maintain a tight body and muscle group if you do not exercise and regularly work out the specific muscle area. While CoolTone will give you a firm look, for the time being, your muscles will eventually begin to loosen when not worked out. So, while the body contouring methods are great ways to give you a look and feel you are going for if you are interested in maintaining these looks and feels you’ll need to make some adjustments to your lifestyle.
