What is Vivace Ultra™ RF Microneedling?

Vivace Ultra™ RF Microneedling combines two powerful treatments – microneedling and RF energy. This duo stimulates collagen and elastin production. The needles can be set up to reach a precise depth tailored to the area treated and your goals. Vivace Ultra’s is FDA-cleared, and this proprietary device is manufactured in the USA.

One special advantage Vivace Ultra™ has over some treatment options, like laser-based treatments, is that it works just as well for darker skin as it does for lighter skin.

What Vivace Ultra™ RF Microneedling Can Do For You

If you follow our blogs, you know we often recommend microneedling. It helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles while improving skin texture and tone. Also, microneedling makes it easier for your skin to absorb thereby benefit from topical serums, including exosomes, peptides, PRP, or vitamin C.

Vivace Ultra™ takes it a step further by using ultrasound mapping to map the individual layers of skin under the surface. The result is treatment tailored to your specific needs. Benefits of Vivace Ultra™ include:

  • Highly personalized treatment due to new ultrasound mapping technology
  • Improve collagen production for better skin elasticity and texture
  • Improve the look of fine lines
  • Works for people with any skin tone
  • Improve the appearance of scars like acne scars
  • A less invasive, nonsurgical skin rejuvenation option
  • It can be used to treat any area of face or body skin
  • Minimal discomfort and no downtime
  • Start seeing results right away

What to Expect During Your Vivace Ultra™ RF Microneedling Session

Your session begins with a gentle cleansing of your skin, followed by the application of a topical anesthetic for your comfort.

Next, your skin is mapped using advanced ultrasound technology. This information aids your provider in creating a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs.

Your provider will use Vivace Ultra’s proprietary handpiece to deliver your treatment. This device features gold-plated microneedles, which are gently and precisely inserted into your skin. This causes micro-injuries that stimulate collagen production. As we age, collagen production slows, which is one reason skin texture changes. Stimulating it helps refresh and improve skin’s texture, tone and appearance.

Depending on your skin’s requirements, your provider may also apply a specialized serum and or mask. Vivace Ultra™ Experience Post-treatment care includes both peptide rich cooling and soothing masque followed by an application of a peptide rich serum. It’s normal to experience some redness, tenderness, and tingling sensation after your session, but these effects are typically less pronounced than those following traditional microneedling.

While the procedure doesn’t necessitate downtime as with a plastic surgery procedure, there are a few precautions to observe for a couple of days post-treatment. It’s advisable to refrain from vigorous exercise for 24 hours, avoid wearing makeup until the following day, and limit direct sun exposure for up to 7-10 days. Additionally, the use of exfoliating products should be avoided for at least a week.

Long-term side effects beyond temporary redness and tingling are rare, but complications such as infection, hyperpigmentation, bruising, or swelling can occur.

As with any procedure, your body is unique and so is the way it responds. Your provider will discuss any specific risk factors and provide guidance on mitigating these risks. For instance, if you have open wounds in the treatment area, it’s recommended to wait until these have healed before proceeding with the treatment.

The duration of the treatment is typically around 45 minutes, but this can vary depending on the areas of your face or body being treated.

Who is a Good Candidate for Vivace Ultra™ RF Microneedling

No treatment is right for every person. This is why it is crucial that you seek care from a skilled and knowledgeable professional. The best way to determine whether it is right for you is to book a consultation. Your provider will learn more about you and your history; if you have existing conditions that make Vivace Ultra™ risky for you, your provider may suggest alternative treatments that would be better for your needs.

The great thing is that Vivace Ultra™ is an excellent choice for nearly anyone who doesn’t have open wounds in the treatment area, issues with keloid scar formation, an acne flare-up, or an infection. Since some of those conditions are temporary, you may be a good candidate later once your skin recovers.

It is generally a good option for most people with mild to moderate signs of aging who want to improve their skin texture, tone and overall skin health since it is minimally invasive.

Maintaining Your Results

As with any treatment, the best way to maintain your results from Vivace Ultra™ is to keep your skincare routine on-point. This includes:

  • Wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day, even if it’s cloudy outside. Damage from the sun’s rays is a top cause of premature aging. Not all sunscreens are equal; check the label to make sure it protects against both UV-A and UV-B (which is what the term broad spectrum refers to).
  • Talk with a skin health professional to learn which serums and at-home treatments may help treat your specific concerns. Some use retinol, some peptides, and others a vitamin C serum. The best skincare is tailored to your skin’s needs and your lifestyle.
  • Use a gentle cleanser to remove makeup, sweat, or dirt without irritating your skin.
  • Use a hydrating product or moisturizer suited to the moisture level your skin needs.
