Calling All Summer Brides: Here are the Top Skin Care Tips Before Wedding

Top Skin Care Tips Before Wedding

Test Well In Advance

Before we dive into specific skincare tips before the wedding, you’ll want to begin testing products and services well in advance. Even if you don’t have a history of reacting to skincare products, there’s a first time for everything. And, as Murphy’s Law suggests, if something can go wrong, it will. Don’t leave possible reactions to chance. Test out any products as far in advance as possible. This way, you’ll know if it’s safe to continue using or if you’re better off trying something else.

Professional Services

It’s amazing what a professional facial can do for you. Our staff here at The Skin Center By CPS uses medical-grade products, ones the average consumer cannot safely purchase and use at home. By scheduling professional services, you have several options to choose from such as microdermabrasion (a gentle polishing style exfoliation), dermaplane (where the dead skin cells are removed via a blade), or you may choose to have a chemical skin peel, just to name a few. Each treatment is customized with topical solutions that treat your specific skin concerns.

If possible, try to schedule these services monthly. Having one facial performed a few months out and then not having anything after that will not really do you much good for your wedding day. We don’t advise having any skin peels the week of your wedding, but by talking with our professionals, they can guide you as to when it’s best to schedule a monthly service leading up to your wedding. You’ll notice dramatic results just from these scheduled professional services.

Focus On Your Diet and Stay Hydrated

Many brides look at their wedding as a reason to diet and exercise. Some want to drop a dress size or two, even if it is just for the wedding and the honeymoon. Regardless, you will want to focus on your diet for the sake of your skin. Cut out the deep-fried foods, the heavy dairy, chocolates, and also any foods you’ve found to cause breakouts (everyone is a bit different here, you likely know what foods affect your skin). Also, it’s important to stay hydrated. The better you hydrate in the weeks and months leading up to your wedding, the better your skin will look. You should, at minimum, drink eight glasses of 8-ounces of water a day (more is better). And ditch the sugary drinks and diet sodas. Those aren’t doing your skin any favors, and ditching these drinks will help improve your ability to stay hydrated.

Protect Your Skin From The Sun

This goes not only for your face but for your lips and hands as well. It’s easy to forget your lips, so invest in some quality SPF 30 lip balm and make sure you’re always coating your lips. Remember to coat the top of your hands when applying SPF too, for those close-up ring photos.  If you want a deeper tan for your wedding day, start shopping around for a great spray-tan service provider and go through a few test runs with the same company to make sure you like the tone and color. You should even wear a white t-shirt, so you know what your skin will look like against white clothing (unless you’re not wearing a white dress, in which case wear a shirt that matches the color of your dress).

Avoid Popping Pimples

You might wake up a few days before your big day and discover a giant zit on your chin (remember My Big Fat Greek Wedding?!?). All the nerves and stress may be catching up, resulting in the formation of that big pimple. Sure, you might want to squeeze it, but you don’t want to risk breaking the pore walls and causing a bigger problem. Instead, coat the pimple with a benzoyl peroxide gel before bed. This will dry that zit out real fast. Once it’s dried out, it’ll be easy to take care of.

Injections, But A Few Months Out

If you are new to the world of injections, such as Botox, you’ll want to schedule these several months out. You don’t want it bumping up against your wedding week because you won’t know how your body will react. Instead, by receiving the injections a month or two out, you’ll have plenty of time to adapt and for everything to look and feel natural.
