Winter is officially in the air. The temperature is dropping, the air is drier, and the leaves are falling. It is time to begin a skin care routine and ritual, starting with the use of regular exfoliation and retinol creams. If you stop or slow down the use of retinol or Retin A during the summer months, now is the time to start reapplying it along with the use of glycolic or lactic acids.
Regular facial exfoliation will help to prep the skin for in-office treatments along with immediately brightening the skin.

Sente Bio Complete Serum has a time-released retinoid for minimal irritation and HAS (Hepron Sulfate Analog) to nourish and support the renewal of healthy skin cells. The use of AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser sloughs away the top layer of skin-refining the appearance of pores and brightening skin. These two products should be used along with a regular skin care routine and regimen of peptides or growth factors, antioxidants, such as vitamin C, and of course, an appropriate SPF.
Personally, I like to start my fall skin care routine with a chemical peel. Chemical peels or refining facial treatments are a great start to slough away the summer skin, pigmentation, and clogged pores. Chemical peels are safe to administer on tanned skin and can immediately brighten dull, dehydrated skin. Minimal downtime for most peels.
Next up in my fall skincare routine, BBL or HALO is recommended to improve pigmentation, facial veins, and deeper lines and wrinkles. BBL or BroadBand Light therapy is a pulse light using light energy to target and minimize brown spots and facial veins. The heat energy will also help to stimulate your skin cells to regenerate. This process is done in a series of 3 treatments. Results are seen as early as 7 days post-treatment, but optimal results will be seen about 8 weeks post-series of treatments. Makeup can be worn immediately after the treatment is completed. HALO is a hybrid laser used to superficially resurface the skin ablative and non-ablative. Meaning we are removing several of the top layers of skin and causing a controlled injury deeper into the layers of skin to help regenerate healthy skin cells and minimize deeper, more significant discoloration. 1-2 treatments are recommended.
Finally, a good winter skin care routine consists of regular skin maintenance. Maintaining the results of procedures is extremely important. We cannot stop the aging process. Therefore, continuing with a consistent skin care routine or regimen at home along with in-office procedures at least every 8-12 weeks is most important to keeping our skin looking like it does after treatments. Healthy skin will continue to stay healthy as long as we take care of it.
