Expert Advice for the Best Neck Tightening Treatments to Avoid a Turkey Neck

As you age, your skin is unable to bounce back as it did in your younger years. Like a rubber band, over time, skin loses its elasticity and resilience, and you begin to see some sagging. Especially in areas such as the neck where gravity is more likely to pull down on the skin. This can eventually lead to drooping around the neck, also known as “turkey neck.”  Luckily, nowadays we have the best neck tightening treatments available to help you.

Thankfully, accepting turkey neck isn’t something you need to do. There are some very effective treatment options at your disposal, many of which are non-surgical procedures. So, if you’re interested in neck tightening treatments that are non-invasive, here are several options to consider.

Neck Tightening Treatment Option 1: CoolSculpting®

CoolSculpting® treatments have grown in popularity as an FDA-approved method for treating excess fat and tightening loose skin. It is commonly used in areas where stubborn body fat doesn’t seem to go away. Often, it targets these stubborn areas around the belly, butt, arms, and chin.

CoolSculpting essentially freezes the fatty tissue under the skin. By freezing the fat cells, it prevents these cells from receiving nutrients and oxygen from your blood, causing the fat cells to die. Over time, your body will process the dead cells like it does any other cells in the body it is repairing. This removes the fat cells from the target area while also tightening and toning the muscles.

This is an excellent procedure to consider if you have some excess skin or fat pockets around your neck or under your chin. Because you can’t physically target fat through exercise, you are at your body’s whim when attempting to lose fat in a particular area. As your face and neck aren’t a large stockpile of caloric energy, it is often one of the last places your body turns when consuming stored fat. Thankfully, with CoolSculpting for the double chin, this isn’t an issue any longer.

CoolSculpting® offers a beneficial treatment method, especially for anyone who would prefer to avoid surgery, needles, or any kind of injection. It is as non-invasive as it gets.

Neck Tightening Treatment Option 2: Kybella®

Think of this as a faster-working, injectable version of CoolSculping®. The process is a bit different, but the desired outcome is similar. Kybella is an injectable that uses a particular deoxycholic acid to kill the fat cells in the target area. The target area is incredibly small, so it is almost exclusively used to target double chins and other excess fat stored around the face and neck.

During the treatment, a series of injections are made. The acid will then go to work, killing off the targeted pocket of fat cells. Like with CoolSculpting®, once the fat cells are dead, they will not return. Fat cells don’t grow or duplicate. Instead, fat cells expand as they absorb unused caloric energy, so once those fat cells are no more, the excess caloric energy will be stored by different fat cells somewhere else in the body.

Because the acid kills the targeted fat faster, you will likely see faster results than CoolSculpting®, although this isn’t guaranteed (and CoolSculpting® is often used on larger areas of the face and neck).

Neck Tightening Treatment Option 3: Skincare

There are some general skin care methods you need to follow in order to help improve your overall appearance. Not only of the skin around your neck but of the rest of your body as well.

For starters, you need to remain hydrated. If you’re not drinking at least nine 8-ounce glasses of water during the day, you’re not giving your body the level of hydration it needs.

You need to wash and exfoliate your face and neck in the morning and at night, and when you are performing your daily skincare routine, do not skip the neck. We see this all too often. Someone will apply quality products to their face but skip their neck. Your neck has incredibly thin skin and needs the same topical products as the rest of your face. Lastly, avoid applying perfume directly on the neck, it contains alcohol which dries the skin causing it to appear crepey and discolored.
